Riley E

I need one hundred and twenty thousand dollars in fourteen days or my sister dies on that waiting list. I have four hundred in my account and a job that pays me in tips. Damian Cross could cover the whole thing without checking his balance. Everyone in this city knows his name. Nobody says it out loud. He doesn't hand me the money. He hands me a contract. One year. His house. His rules. His terms. I sign it because Mia doesn't have time for my pride. He's cold with everyone else. He watches me differently. That should scare me more than it does. Then Mia grabs my wrist before surgery and whispers, "Don't trust the one who paid." I don't know if she means Damian. Or the other Cross who showed up at the hospital tonight.
